Resting At Lake Brunner

Resting At Lake Brunner

As expected, Lake Brunner was a much needed rack out day.

We loved the accommodation and felt comfortable just hanging out, playing cards and reading. In fact I was very happy sitting out in the sun reading when I had to give up and go inside our unit. There were a couple of “friendly” wekas who apparently ruled the area. I use the term “friendly” definitely tongue in cheek as we had witnessed their regard for the owner by sneaking up behind her and giving her a nasty peek on the leg. No way were they getting anywhere near my legs after that. They were so tame they barely moved when you tried to shush them away. So once they arrived at the picnic table, I departed.

Lake Brunner was a little disappointing for me. It is not a lake surrounded by native bush, but more so pine forest. Not that that should have detracted from its appeal, but it did. We did go for a couple of short walks. One was across a rather long swing bridge which would have been an ideal bridge to scare others but we were on our own. We were glad we had not decided to stay an extra night.

The weather continues to be kind to us. A little rain fell while we had dinner in the local pub, but by the time we left it was already dry again.
