Join Jodie & Shal in NZ Bush

Much of “Wilderness Liaison” is set with Jodie & Shal in NZ bush. Using this setting allowed me to show Jodie as a real heroine (“a person of extraordinary valour, fortitude or enterprise”) who could cope with any disaster that might befall. She is strong, determined and not easily fazed. Shal argues against “this skinny girl” being put in charge but knows he is out of his own comfort zone. Initially certain he will need to step up and take control of their venture into the bush, he acknowledges (to himself at least) his lack of expertise which would be necessary for this role. Of course I wanted these traits to contrast with their situation when they meet again in Auckland.

In New Zealand we are blessed with an amazing natural environment. Our landscapes can favourably compare with anywhere in the world for beauty and magnificence. Our native bush is a sight to behold.
