This Month's Blogs...

With Christmas fast approaching may I wish God's blessing upon you and your loved ones during what has surely turned into a silly season of commercialism and indulgence. May you travel safely, treasure time spent with family and friends, holiday in continuing high spirits and don't waste a moment's thought on the calorie intake. What would New Year be without that tried and true - but rarely ever achieved - resolution "I will lose weight this year"? Merry Christmas everyone.

Exciting news awaited me when I returned home from Southland. My second book cover was already here. It seems only a couple of months since I submitted "Devon's Dream" and I have a cover already. I was so excited it took me a while to realise I still hadn't responded with a confirmation that there were no glaring errors in the picture. The pohutakawa blossom might be pretty prolific but it looks close enough to me. TWRP are truly amazing with the time they spend on a story. Of course I'm not too sure how many more edits I might be doing before its ready for the printers but who cares. I find it very, very satisfying to know I'm actually working on something that is worthy of publication. So many hundreds of hours are spent polishing work that might never see the light of day.

Do you have great story ideas churning around inside your head? Or even more annoying, do you sometimes read a story and feel dissatisfied as you read the last page. Or maybe you can't even bring yourself to finish the story. You throw the book aside with a grimace, knowing you could have come up with something far more captivating. More readable, or maybe more gutsy. Have you ever thought of exploring these ideas? Even just for your own satisfaction? Inventing people and creating a journey for them to follow is an amazing experience. Some may see it as escapism but the thrill of watching those people grow on a page and do wonderful and amazing things is beyond description. Why don't you give it a try? I'll expand on this.
